Take-a-Seat!
The Take-a-Seat! campaign was initiated by HP Arts in December of 1999 to raise funds to supplement the HPISD bond program for enhancements to the main auditorium at the High School. The initial objective was to provide new seats on the main floor. An Encore campaign was added in 2004 to also replace the seats in the balcony in honor of HPISD Director of Fine Arts, Linda Raya.
The campaign has raised over $250,000, including two grants from La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas totaling $56,550. To date, 936 contributors have supported the campaign with the purchase of 440 seats. In addition to all new seats in the auditorium, funds have been used to purchase new drapes for the stage, wireless microphones and lighting equipment. The campaign continues with 310 seats still available so that funds can be made available for other projects identified by the fine arts department.
